Coming to terms with a diagnosis of ATTR amyloidosis

Dr Joanne Ablett explores the many challenges for a family when a member is diagnosed with amyloidosis. Factors include the emotional cost, the fact that there’s no known cure and the possibility that the condition is genetic. People tend to experience a range of powerful, often difficult emotions. It is important to allow everyone space to feel and experience their emotions over time with as much compassion and openness as possible.

Dr Joanne Ablett is a clinical psychologist with experience in chronic conditions. Her videos here focus on mindfulness and mental health, as well as how to tackle some of the tougher to answer questions a diagnosis of hATTR may raise.
