Going on holiday with ATTR amyloidosis

Amyloidosis UK trustee Vince Nicholas offers advice based on his own experiences around going on holiday while living with ATTR amyloidosis. Having had many good holidays since getting his diagnosis, Vince points out that in the early stages of the disease you should seriously consider taking advantage of the fact that you’re still reasonably fit and healthy. He recommends doing the more challenging things that you’ve always wanted to do early on while it is still relatively easy. Make sure to sit down with your loved ones and tell them what you’d like to do. Also consult with your support team — your carers, consultants and clinicians — concerning the potential challenges of what you’ve decided to go after.

Having been diagnosed with hATTR amyloidosis himself, Vince is an expert in patient support and the services available to you and/or your loved ones.
