- Video Transcript
Dr Carol Whelan outlines the two main variants of ATTR amyloidosis: wild type, which can’t be passed down to offspring, and hereditary which comes with a 50/50 chance of passing on to offspring regardless of gender. Even if a child does inherit the variant, they may never develop the disease.
Dr Carol Whelan holds the position of Consultant at the National Amyloidosis Centre. Having worked with the hATTR community for years, her videos here explain a bit more about the symptoms, care, and the potential hereditary nature of this condition.
