Life on hold

Libby, who used to care for her nan who had ATTR amyloidosis, talks about how the considerable mental, emotional and physical challenges of that care effectively put her life on hold for several years. Having been looked after by her nan growing up, she never questioned the calling and took it on from a place of love. Her great-uncle David, who also has an ATTR diagnosis, shares his memories on Libby’s time with his sister and acknowledges with great appreciation how much Libby gave up in her own life to look after her nan.

In this series of videos, Libby and David discuss the grief of losing a family member with ATTR, the impact a diagnosis has on the wider family, where you can turn to for help as a caregiver of someone with ATTR and how it can feel to care for someone with the condition.
